Caleb is really difficult to describe in a few little paragraphs. He is a one of a kind type kid, who takes a lot of patients and a big heart tolerate. He is much more mature than he should be. He is a book worm. He doesn't like TV and video games. He isn't your typical, hormonal teenage boy. He is so much more. But this isn't the stuff you get to know unless you can get close to Caleb without him totally spazzing out and having a panic attack. He is very jumpy and scares easily at the smallest things, such as balloons, or the sound of a hair dryer. Caleb can't hide his emotions, weather they are happy, sad, angry, excited, ect. He is pretty much an open book. You can tell when he has something on his mind or when there is nothing going on in his mind, which isn't often. He is always thinking about things. He over thinks things too much, and he is also a huge worry wart. Always asking "What if this happens?" "What if we die?" and stupid questions like that.
Caleb isn't clingy, per se, but he likes to be cuddled and held all the time, but only by certain people, such as his friends or his lover. If he doesn't want you to touch him, then don't, unless you would like to see him in 'emotional wreck' mode. And no, it is not fun to have to deal with. Now, you may be thinking 'what a fuck up!' but there is a good reason he is fucked up. You just gotta wait til the history. One thing not many people know about Caleb is that he is a diabetic. He doesn't make it a point to tell people, because he doesn't want them worrying about him. He doesn't worry about it either, which normally ends up with a super low Caleb, which is never good.
Caleb is also a recovering drug addict. Not that the timid little boy wants to be, but that is the way he used to forget about everything, and it has just become a habit. He has been clean for three months. Caleb isn't anti social, he really wants to be able to have friends, but he is just scared to death of people and pretty much everything else. He is trying his best to get over it, but it's harder than it sounds. His sister is his security blanket and he likes to keep her near him at all times. Caleb is a really cool kid if you take the time to get close to him.
Caleb absolutely adores cuddling. He could stay still and cuddle someone for hours upon hours, but only certain people. His boyfriend being one of those people. Yes, Caleb is gayer than a rainbow at a gay pride parade. Girls are too whiny for him. Caleb loves clothes, shoes, and shopping. His closet is packed FULL of shoes, but they are all neatly stacked. He is a semi neat freak and a total germaphobe. He likes the beach, too, he just doesn't like to get in the water, it would mess his hair up. Caleb loves peace. yes, he is a pacifist and will not fight. Hell, even if he would, he wouldn't be able to fight his way out of a wet paper bag.
Caleb doesn't like violence, he was raised around it, so, yeah, you can see where that stems from. He doesn't like TV. He'll watch a movie every once in a while, but nothing really more. He doesn't like people.... more like he is scared of them. Balloons also. They scare him to death. He doesn't really like cats. He is more of a dog person by far, which is why he has his chihuahua with him. Caleb doesn't like sleeping alone, he prefers someone to cuddle with.He doesn't really like staying up all night. He doesn't like candles or fire. The flame scares him to death.
Caleb Alexander Chevalier was born to Genevieve and Emile Chevalier on july sixteenth. They thought they were ready for the little boy, but they obviously weren't.They began to resent him. Not wanting him whats so ever. Money was tight and it was either starve or give up the three month old, but his mother's sister stepped in a saved the day, deciding to take the little boy off of their hands. She was a great mother to Caleb and made sure he had everything that he needed. They moved half way across the country when Caleb was two, because his aunt, Elsa, was getting married to a man, who wasn't to thrilled that they were going to have a son that was not theirs, but he said that he could live with it. After a while, he couldn't take Caleb. He was a rambunctious toddler. He told Elsa that it was him or Caleb, and guess who it was.... Not Caleb. Caleb was put up for adoption and bounced around from foster home to foster home until he turned twelve.
He went and lived with a couple who seemed to love the boy very, very much. He had an older brother. His brother didn't like him too much and pretty much ignored the boy all together. As Caleb got older, he got a little bit quieter, and his parents got worried and sent him to get therapy, and it came back as nothing. He was just shy. Caleb had always been a strange kid, and it was beginning to show whenever he went to school, he couldn't get friends, and his mom were still worried. When he got into highschool, he was pretty much the freak, who no one wanted to be around. He honestly had no one. He pretty much closed up all together, and his parents didn't know what to do. His brother would get Caleb in trouble for things that he hadn't done, and any time Caleb tried to defend himself, his brother would hurt him or yell at him. Caleb's dad had also been pretty verbally and emotionally abusive when the boy's grades began to slip or if he was anything less than perfect.
It was his freshman year when his mother found out that he had been cutting himself and taking pills and throwing up anything he wat. She sent him to a reform school and he came back "changed" or so she thought. He was okay until tenth grade. He entered into the dark stage of his life. He was depressed and saw no reason to get out of the bed, so a second correctional faciliy was in his future, just because they didn't want to deal with him like normal parents, so without a word, they sent the shy boy away. When he came out, the packed up and moved to Greenville... Little do they know... He's not better.

Never had Caleb found it so easy to open up to someone or share his feelings, but with Steele, it just seemed to.... happen. He had no idea how, but it did. He had his share of deep dark secrets, but he seemed to be spilling them to the boy one by one and oddly enough, he didn’t find himself minding it. In fact, he felt relieved almost. It made him feel like he could tell Steele anything, anything at all and he wouldn’t want to run away from him. He didn’t seem to outwardly judge Caleb for the drugs or the eating disorder, but Caleb had no idea what Steele’s thoughts were on the inside.
Hopefully, he didn’t think it was too bad. He could have ended up with someone worse, like a murderer or a psychotic person, right? Caleb wasn’t half bad, compared to a lot of the people in this school. In fact, he was one of the more sane ones. Hah. What did that say about the people in this school if Caleb was considered sane?
He inwardly chuckled at that thought.
Caleb had never been normal, let alone sane. There had always been something telling him to run away, much like a prey animal. A heightened flight reflex, if you will. He had always been cautious of people and always stayed out of their way. Caleb had never liked bothering people as most little kids had. He preferred to never ask for anything and be happy. He just couldn’t understand where he went wrong and when he snapped. He had gone from a fun loving little boy to a thirty year old man trapped inside a twelve year old’s body. He had to learn to grow up and take care of himself living in foster care his whole life.
In some families, his parent’s weren’t home a lot, in some he was the big brother, and in some, he was the only child, having to learn to entertain himself. That was where Caleb picked up piano. He needed something to occupy his time and the instrument happened to be in his grasp and he took to it like a frog takes to water.
He had loved it so much that it had consumed his heart and soul.
He had acted like he was so much older than he was for so long, he didn’t get to enjoy the normal childhood things like toys and friends. He was simply reading all the time and listening to the adults talk about subjects that he could care less about but he learned to act like he was paying attention so that maybe someone would look at him and think he was smart and maybe, just maybe, end up wanting him in the long run. It was a slim chance, but as always, Caleb was more than willing to take it as a little boy. As he grew older, he learned to lie to himself and tell himself that he didn’t care. But he always knew that he did.
“I just… don’t want to lose you…”
Caleb bit his own lip, looking at Steele. How could Steele ever think that Caleb didn’t want him or that he was going to lose Caleb? Steele was simply the best thing in his life and telling Caleb about the alcohol and cuts weren’t going to change his opinion of Steele one bit. He loved him. Every smile, every touch and every cut. He didn’t just love bits and pieces of the boy, he loved the whole thing, and that was what he hoped that he would realize one day."Steele. You never have to worry about me leaving you. Until you want me to go away, I'll be here." He said with a smile. ”I know, I’m sorry. But you make me happy Caleb, more than you know. Everything is better now that I have you.” Caleb smiled. It sounded familiar, but he didn’t like the fact that Steele was apologizing to him about it. “Look, Steele. Don’t apologize. It’s a way of coping with things. It’s how you deal with them, I’m guessing. Don’t apologize for something that makes you feel better, okay? As long as you are not hurting, I’m happy.”
He took a breath and continued to speak.
“And just so you know, you are simply the best thing that has ever happened to me. You have no idea, Amour.” He said, still in awe that Steele wanted him! He would have never dreamed that the boy would want anything to do with someone like him. There were so many other better people here at Brighton that could have made Steele so much happier than Caleb, yet, Steele chose him and wanted to give Caleb a chance. It was a chance he had never had. No one had ever let him try to prove himself before they got rid of him. And now Steele was giving him that chance. “I am too, but you know, I’ll always come when you ask me.” Caleb gave a smile. “Good. I like you being around me. You are one of the only people who have ever cared, Steele. You don’t know how much that means to me...” He said with a nod, thinking back. Was he being a little over dramatic? He thought about it, and no, he wasn’t.
It was the truth.
No one ever cared or wanted the boy. He knew that Steele cared just by watching him. Caleb was a people watcher. He could tell things by People’s actions and words. He was good at that. Caleb wrapped his free arm around himself in an attempt to keep warm. He got a smirk on his face, looking up at Steele. “I’m cold.... Is there anything you could possibly do about that?” He asked, knowing good and well that Steele would know what he wanted. He would never pass up the chance to cuddle Steele. Never. Steele was all he wanted and when he had his arms around Caleb, Caleb felt like nothing else in the world mattered. No one could hurt him and like he was finally whole.
