oh that looked like a bunny. that one looked like a camellia flower. pretty. maybe he would have to draw it later when he got the chance. he wondered if clouds really looked like any of the things that people saw. or was it a figment of their imaginations? he wasn't entirely sure to be honest. it very may well have been up to the interpretation of the watcher. beauty, after all, depended on the eyes of the beholder. oh that was pretty. his pencil dragged across the paper aimlessly, sketching out the ivory petals of the camellia cloud. yes, this would very a very pretty subject. flowers were always nice to draw.
"mr. daniels! please! leave class! you've been staring out that window idly for the past hour!"
he lifted his head up, blinking his eyes quietly. his tongue swirled around his snakebites, the cool metal tasting familiar. he had made it a habit to play with the damned things, although he was fairly certain that if he continued; he'd end up pulling the thing right out. sounded painful actually. but a lot of things sounded painful. he wondered was pain really existent? or was that too a figment of their imaginations?
he wasn't sure. all up to the way a person perceived it, he supposed. his movements were sluggish, gathering all his papers into his binder and throwing his pencils into the front pouch of his plain, navy backpack. he threw it over his shoulder, yawning and scratching the back of his head before heading out the door of the classroom. he probably should have been paying more attention. that was probably why he was failing some of his classes. but how could he help it.
kainon found such interesting things in everything. it was fun to draw and compulsive for him to do as long as he had a piece of paper and a pencil. his worn, black converse slapped against the ground as he adjusted the strap of his backpack on his broad shoulders. kainon yawned again, scratching the back of his head. what was he supposed to do today? he didn't remember. he was pretty tired.
maybe he could take a nap. that sounded nice actually.
he wandered past the hospital, the azure pools staring silently ahead. oh right. volunteering. yes. he had made many new drawings for the children's ward. they always seemed to enjoy it when he drew them or something they wanted. his recent work was that of a dragon and another of a pegasus. two kids had wanted them and he had been more than happy to comply.
the doors opened automatically. he stepped inside casually, saying his hellos to the front desk before he was stopped. "oh, kainon. did you know someone else showed up today? she looked about your age!" she only shrugged in response. "i don't really care." he answered in the same monotone that he reserved specifically for whenever he spoke. he only shrugged, adjusting his backpack again as he walked towards the children's ward.
he breathed in the sterilized air, recalling memories of when he had been surrounded by nothing but white walls and white floors. all filled with empty promises. "kainon!" the children exclaimed, dashing forward and latching onto his leg. he only looked down at them and smiled what little he could. "hello." he said softly, messing up their hair quietly. in some cases, just their heads.
he only looked up now, looking around. right. the other person. there they were. he only stared at them quietly. he wasn't about to make a move to introduce himself. he never was one for introductions.

stop there and let me correct it , i wanna live a life from a new perspective Most people who did not know Atticus well were typically shocked to discover that Atticus had the heart to volunteer. After all, what would such an arrogant ass possibly get from helping out a bunch of sick children, abandoned animals, and the homeless? Many believed that Atticus only volunteered his time and services for the sake of being able to put community service on his college applications. To be completely truthful though, Atticus adored volunteering to help around the city. It satisfied his parents while it also relieved the ache that seemed almost a constant feeling in his chest. The fact was that Atticus actually had a huge, loving heart that almost killed him if he did not get the time once and awhile to help someone for nothing in return. Atticus was actually quite selfless, but this would obviously ruin the image he had going…so obviously no one could ever know.
Today Atticus was spending his day volunteering at the hospital. They had placed him in the children’s ward, which, to be quite frank, was one of his favorite places to help in the hospital. The children were such a joy to be around him, and it made him so happy to see the spark of life and hope within each one of them. Many had horrible illnesses, yet they were still capable of smiles and laughing. Basically, volunteering in the children’s ward gave Atticus hope for the human race. He got to see such pure souls in the many children here that he saw so little of in kids his own age or adults…it was refreshing. There was also the fact that he got to spend the majority of the time simply reading to the kids or playing with various toys along with them. He got to be a child again which was something that he got to do so little of anymore. Everything around him seemed to be forcing him to grow up. His parents wanted him to be perfectly mature at all times, and with all his homework and extracurriculars he rarely had any time to have a bit of childish fun.
At the moment, the children were swarming throughout the playroom playing with the many toys that filled its shelves. He was sitting with two of the boys who were playing with building blocks. He was providing design advice in their building as they built away to their imagination’s content. All the other children were busying themselves with each other. Everything was going wonderfully until there was a sudden stampeding crowd oh children rushing towards the doorway. The two boys he had been sitting with ran along with the rest of the children, demolishing their building in the process and knocking the blocks all over him. Atticus shook the blocks off of him before standing up and looking towards the crowd of kids with a curious look upon his face. That is when he noticed a taller individual standing amongst the small crowd of children.
Atticus slowly moved towards the group of kids and the obviously older individual, however he stood back a few feet to give them space. However, Atticus found the boy to look rather familiar when he looked up. Atticus racked his brain for why this boy was familiar, and there was only one way that he would possibly know this individual. From school of course. Atticus stared back at him and managed a small smile.
Atticus then waited for the children to slowly disperse from around the boy before he moved closer and nodded slightly to the unnamed individual. “Umm…hey there. My name’s Atticus...I think we go to school together.” Atticus paused to glance around the room, watching the children begin to go back to their toys. “I guess we will be volunteering together today? Sort of great to get to be in the children’s ward and all.” Atticus figured that since he was going to be spending some time with his guy he might as well make an attempt at being civil…unlike he usually was to people who he did not know too well.
you come along because i love your face , and i'll admire your expensive taste - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

kainon had never really been one for friends. friends were for the loneliest and saddest people in the world. given, he had his moments where he wanted to talk to other people. but they always passed with in the first few minutes or so. what was the point in it? having friends? he didn't need them to survive like air or anything like that. and he was neither lonely (except for when he was secluded from people long enough) or sad. so there was no real point in having any. besides. it was difficult to talk to people about art when all they knew of was manga or contemporary art. not his thing.
he always loved volunteering at the hospital. most of the people recognized him. the kids, the doctors, the nurses, even the front desk. probably because he had spent so much time there to begin with, but even so. it was nice being here, strange enough. reminded him of home in a sense. the children were very sweet, despite it all; they remained constant. faithful. hopeful. even the ones who were told that they weren't going to make it. there were always the miracle cases.
he couldn't help but smile too, only looking down at them through the dark black frame of hair that obscured his blue eyes from view. they clung to his legs, unable to reach up any higher as it were. he only watched then as the children scurried back to their toys, lifting his head up silently and staring. he hadn't answered quite yet, thinking over his words. kainon always had a habit of saying the wrong thing, rubbing people off in the wrong way. this was not one of those times. he definitely needed to stay civil.
no need in picking a fight with a stranger. plus, he sucked at fighting. the sophomore only nodded silently. "yeah, we do. kainon." it was normal for him not to say much. not that people noticed it much. an awkward silence. "yeah. i guess." was all he said after that.
tagg! atticus. character! kainon. notes! naw, it's fine. (: i fail so much harder. credits! post content belongs to lilly. image credit goes to whoever it belongs to. ch'yeah. [/blockquote]
